There is a meeting of Texas Patriots tonight in Cleburne, Texas. I wanted to be there very badly, but circumstances will not allow it. My friend, Joe is fighting cancer and it's getting near and dear for him. He earned three bronze stars and a purple heart in Vietnam. I didn't go there, so my charge is to take care of the old warrior in his final days. Important things like coffee, sitting on the porch in the morning watching the sun come up with the full and certain knowledge that it will eventually go down and a piece of America will be lost.
To my friends in Cleburne, you are all Joe! You have drawn a line in the sand and are standing firm for Texas liberty. In the final analysis Texas liberty is America's liberty. Several administrations, and especially Barak Obama have undermined that liberty with fancy words, executive orders and out and out lies. The liberal left makes fun of God fearing red blooded patriots, such as yourselves, making you look out of style, not "with it," uncool, and ignorant. Why are you viewed like this? You are looked upon this way because the people slandering you have never paid the price for the very liberty that allows them to do so. They didn't have to. Joe paid it for them. And what reward did he receive? As a 100% disabled vet, retired, sprayed with Agent Orange, he received a bill from the VA for his chemo. He received lies from his doctors. The right tests weren't made for years to see if the cancer he suffered in 2007 had returned. What the Viet Cong missed his own government finished the job.
Hold your heads high. Let the rest of the country know you drew that line in the sand. Joe knows when he finally drops to his knees, and loses his grip on the flag he fought for, a Texas patriot will gently take and tell the old soldier, "Rest sergeant, I'll finish the tour for you."
