Thank God for God

I’d like to give a word of explanation on my article this morning.  I have a continuing discussion with someone about religion. Now I’m going to be frank here. This person is a fundamentalist, and subscribes to what I call, “folk religion.” A lot of self interpretation, very little analyzation, textual criticism, and no room for any other opinions, and that’s ok. In my younger days I used to get all fired up about such things, but, you know, you grow. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, we all have a gene in our head that makes us try to complete circles. All religions have a core that tries to complete the circles. The problems arise when someone begins to invent circles.

You can find anything you want in the Bible. In over a thousand years the Rabbis and priests and various others who inputted the books of the Bible covered practically every possible scenario. The morality of Proverbs is superb. King David shacking up with one of his general’s wife, well, that was a little bit California. But, don’t you see, that’s where fundamentalism falls a little short. David and his girl friend, and boys and girls, that’s what she really was, had Solomon, and their unholy union was blessed. Talk about a magic bullet! But, Solomon was a good ol’ boy, ok? Smart kid, built a temple, had lots of wives, and made a lot of money.

Now, I see the hackles raising up on some Baptist necks so let me explain. David was human. GOD, was he human! Solomon was human, also. The Bible accepts that, and doesn’t make any excuses. God took a bad deal and made the best of it that He could. If you took the story of David and his son and ran it by a modern social worker you would get dysfunctional family, sexual predator, spoiled little rich kid, and Solomon would have been removed by the CPS and given to a nice Palestinian family to foster. Thank God for God!

The Bible is full of this stuff. That’s because it takes real people in real situations making real mistakes and showing the outcome. When you get fundamentalism there is no room for forgiveness. And most of them claim to speak for God. The final analysis is that God can’t get a word in edgeways. When confronted by any opposing opinion they quote, and quote, and quote, and if you have a variance then YOU are challenging God Himself because they, and only they speak for the almighty and you are a goin’ to HAYELL!!!

There are common sense solutions in the Bible. Jesus said the time will come when if you own a coat and a cloak to sell the coat and buy a sword. Doc Greene transcribes that into buy a gun! The fundamentalist’s hair would catch on fire upon hearing that, but Jesus really said it! He also told a story about a smart manager who upon learning he is to be fired embezzled money from his master, and upon being caught the master rewarded him for being so clever! This, by the way is a direct confirmation of something I said this morning. We need politicians because they are clever and we need clever people to pave roads, build infrastructure a make laws. We need bad dogs int he yard at night. We do not need bad dogs in bed with us!

My mother taught me common sense Christianity. I was told there was no Adam and Eve, that was a simple story telling that we came from somewhere and were somehow all related. Moses did not part the Red Sea any more than some Cajun can part the swamp and you must read all the King James Bible with a grain of salt.  Use your mind! Now, if you want to believe all of the above, and that gives you a warm fuzzy, that’s cool, but please don’t think you have a monopoly on Holy Edict, and you do not have all the answers or the keys to Heaven or Hell.

Combine all this with the fact that I’m sixty-three years old. I’m not being arrogant here, but Ihave seen it all! I saw David Koresh. I didn’t just watch CNN. I saw Luby’s, and I know what happens when we drink the Kool Aid of Democratic gun control. So, when someone comes up with some cockamamie idea about how to interpret what some Rabbi said three thousand years ago I just grin and smoke a cigarette.

This is not to say that I do not believe in God, because I do. My God is just smarter than I am, that’s all. I know when I’m wrong.  It’s wrong to get multiple divorces. I know that. My life has been a matrimonial mess! I’ve made so many mistakes that when I fall short I figure I had it coming and God finally caught up with me. Every now and then God gives me a cookie. He gave me one yesterday, but I can’t tell you about it here because it’s “family” and I’m still laughing my butt off.

In short, the article was not meant to really anger people, it was common sense. The world is a big place, and everybody fits.  Well, maybe not the Muslims, but everybody else. If you buy into the idea that we are all defended from some little brown girl about three feet tall in Africa then we really are all brothers and sisters. If you accept that there is a God who made the little brown girl then you simply have to be aware the He had a plan. Can we figure out the plan. Easier to figure out the remote control on a DVD!

“. . . God lays his plans
This information’s not available to the mortal man
We’re working our jobs
Collect our pay
Believe we’re gliding down the highway
When, in fact, we’re slip sliding away.”

Thus Saith The LORD!

Matthew 22:21
. . . Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.

Hebrews 13:17
Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

Ok, let's thump a little Bible here, what do you say? There is always a little point of contention when it comes to Man's law as opposed to God's law. People get all tore up about the morality involved in obeying a law that they believe stands diametrically opposed to their moral compass. It ranges from trying to skirt around some ordinance, i.e. don't bake no cakes for no gay marriages, to running off into the hills and living on crickets and such.

The reason I quoted those two passages above was to show that the Bible has always shown the line between God and Government. Jesus was very clear when baited by the Pharisees about paying various taxes. He let them know in no uncertain terms that God and Government are separate, but could co-exist. In Hebrews the reader is urged to obey civil authority because it has been given the authority to rule and therefore the responsibility thereof. You see, that's a management technique. You can't give responsibility without authority and vice versa. I learned THAT in college!

Let's get one thing straight. We must have government. We must have ruling authority to regulate, protect, and defend the populace. There are people who believe that all politics are evil and should be done away with. They expand this into a belief that to accept the government's ruling authority is to deny God. So for the Israelites to obey King David was to deny God, right? The government is but an instrument used to manipulate the things needed to run the affairs of people. When we drift from that we get into problems.

Take the police. "To serve and protect." Now, be honest, when was the last time a police car pulled up behind you that you felt protected. I'll agree you may soon feel served . . .UP! As the government gets larger the people get farther away from being served, and closer to being served up. It's gotten so bad that when you read certain amendments to the Constitution you have to be an expert in "legalistic" English. Government should be from the bottom up. In the local community the people you see, and touch, can and should make laws that have effects on your everyday life. Dogs don't need to run the streets, kids should be home by ten. As you move farther and farther away the micromanaging needs to step down accordingly.   What do the people in Washington state know about the Mexican border? What do I know about how the Amish fertilize their tomatoes? And why should I care? Ok, let's use a real example. Go tell a Mormon all about Rowe vs Wade and see how far that gets you!

The Bill of rights does not convey anything to anyone. It acknowledges the fact that there are certain things that just ARE! You can be an atheist and understand that. You should be able to speak your mind, protect yourself, sleep in your bed, and not be a witness against yourself. No one has to tell you that, or write it down. Even a good dog has a right to bite. It's when we move from these understandings to "legislation" that we get into muddy waters and people begin to wonder if obeying man's law is disobeying God's law.

There IS a moral compass, and we all have it. The Nazis thought they had it all figured out right up until that trap was sprung. Certain things are just wrong. I know abortion is the law, but given the choice of jail or assisting in that in any way and I'll just go to jail. I don't care if you call it Fetus or Cletus, I don't kill babies! Now, will I obey gun laws? Well . . . mostly. I'm not getting shot just so some mom against everything can get a warm fuzzy, but I don't go out of my way to expound my methods.

Then there's the "end of the world" crowd. Run around wailing against the government, but they still use that money in their pocket, now don't they? And don't even tell me about gold and silver. Until you can go to Pa Pa John's and give them a goat for a pizza you have to use SOME form of currency, ok? Someone went off on that old "silver and gold" thing during a conversation yesterday, and without doing an entire article on fiat currency I'll just sum it up. Money is just a handy way of trading goods and services. You can't carry a cow around with you, but you can carry a coin, or dollar, or credit card. That form represents your labor or your goods. What makes the Federal Reserve messed up is when the goods and services run out, it's still printing more money. At some point it doesn't represent goods or services and you need to print LOTS of it to fill the void. That's what we call inflation. Now, where was I ?

Verily verily I say unto you, when you start ignoring government, and stop participating in the actions thereof you are not serving God, you are denying the ability and the responsibility He gave you to work the system and make it better! Of the people, by the people, and for the people. We all come together with our various compasses and God's will is mixed with the affairs of man. To isolate yourself is to deny God the ability to speak through you!

The Rev Terry Holcomb, Christian! The talk show host Doc Greene, Christian! CJ Grisham . . . CHRISTIAN! All these men fight to change the system by working the system. Myself? I'm just an old reptile bait, ignore me. We ARE our brother's keeper, in that we all watch out for each other, and you can't do that while eating crickets and smoking dope! I'm going to give you a brand new mortal sin; civic irresponsibility. If you know something is wrong, and you don't at least show up and wave a sign or SOMETHING then YOU are assisting the government in committing that sin because that's what God put you here for!  But there will always be those who refuse to work with the system because it's easier to THUMP a Bible, than to UNDERSTAND it! Like the song says, "Daddy was a sidewalk soapbox preacher looking forward to the  end of the world."  Well, boys and girls I've seen fools hide in communes and live on radishes and marijuana. I've seen old men marry twenty fourteen year old girls, and people whom you would have thought had better sense wait in eager anticipation to ride a comet to heaven, and when I hear someone telling me he, and only he has the "truth" and the answers right from the Bible, I just ask for his car keys.

Many are called, but few are chosen. You can't volunteer, you get picked. I don't know what the criteria is but I do know when you are chosen you'll know it. William Travis waits in eternity on the other side of his line in the sand. Don't stumble as you cross.

Swimming Naked

Alrighty then! Back into the fray. Get your forks out 'cause this is a gonna be good, and Crystal, I know you can't print this one, but every now and then you just gotta swim naked! Clears the head, don't you know? Yesterday Benjamin Notarealjew gave a speech before a joint session of congress. Now, I must admit I didn't listen to it. I never listen to politicians. Politicians are all liars, and the top politician is just the top liar, but I did watch all the fall out. Hey, I've never watched a single Super Bowl, but I've recorded all the commercials, I'm weird, ok?

I picked up one line from ABC News where he gets on that, " Never Again" thing, and I thought that was . . . special. Anyway, down at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave our current house . . . I mean President was hiding in a closet sucking on a Marlboro spewing something about "No Fair!" But that's not made it funny, folks, that's not what made it funny.

For six years Obama has been ripping and tearing at the Constitution, sucking up to every Sheik who owns a camel, playing golf during every state funeral (unless you're a homeboy in Ferguson) and providing Marriott accommodations to every wetback who ever swam the river. Now, when some guy comes over and says he's a long legged Mac Daddy (tip of the hat to Dr. John David Manning) his minions turn out in droves screaming about "America" and "our president" and "degrading the power of his office!" I saw so many American flags I thought it was a VFW beer party! Dudes! Didn't you JUST tell us the Muslims don't like to see those things in public any more?

Obama is so weak, his logic is so skewed, his understanding of this country, and how it really works is so off key that any haberdasher from Brooklyn could give a speech and his ca ca will go to water! I Crappith Thee NOT! Of course he paraded the token white guy, John Kerry, around talking about sensitive talks with Iran. Here's Kerry's plan. He wants to give Iran ten years to develop a nuke in peace so they'll be able to blow Israel to hell and back right proper. Do you honestly think these camel jockeys are just going to sit on their hands for ten years, eating shish k bob, because if you do have I got a bridge for you, and it's on SALE!

Netanyahu lives in the real world. Those are real religious nuts with real nukes looking at him. He can't afford to sit back and discuss subtle ideology and suppositions. And, before you liberal, homosexual, gun hating, Obama loving fools start in about how Israel "took" that land away from them poor old Palestinians, let me remind you; if you ain't got a feather in your hair, and work in a casino go HOME, cause this ain't IT! Now swat them bees!

C.O.B.S.

Nothing puts a damper on writing like a flu. I don't know if I had a flu this last week, or just a case of the scrounge. Anyway, it sucked, and the juices did stop flowing for a day or so. Whiskey flowed, but that was about all. What makes old fools try to cure colds or flu with whiskey? That NEVER works!

Anyway, when my mind returned I went over the past week's news and the raid on the Republic of Texas meeting down in Bryan. And listening to that Po-Dunk sheriff talking about people just issuing summons from non existent courts. The next time he says something can someone please slap him. On one hand we have a bunch of Muslims wanting to set up courts and circumcise the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, and right down the street we have some lame brained gum shoe initiating a major raid on a bunch of old men for sending out some "summons" to some cockamammy "judge" who didn't even have sense enough to ignore it.  And they brought the FBI, too! We're they THAT worried about these old farts overthrowing the government. ISIS doesn't bother Obama but old white men with beards sure mess him up. Must be a "black" thing. I wish I'd known it was that easy to run that prick off!

Ok, ignore the summons thing, that was just a ruse. What the laws was all perked about was the perceived legitimacy of the Republic of Texas pseudo government. You see the GOVERNMENT is not the COUNTRY. Now this is gonna get tricky, students, so pay attention, cause there'll be a test. The land you stand on, and call home is NOT the government. No matter what government paves the roads, and steals your paycheck, Texas is still Texas. Heck, a little over four hundred years ago the Indians thought they ran things. You all know how that worked out. Then, along come the Mexicans, the Anglos, and I think the Mexicans are back, but no matter . . . Same ol' scrub oak and sand! Just ask yourself one question; if all sixty of those crazy old men in Bryan were elected to office in Austin, do you think that might just shake up the old plutocracy a tad? Sixty wild eyed old Texans, voting as a block every time some nonsense like Gay Marriage, Open Carry, Immigration or Muslim day hits the floor. Wow! It wouldn't be sex, but it would be damn close!

But, they all lost their cell phones and got finger printed. In light of this I am starting a new movement. I'm going to give it a clandestine name to confuse the FBI and Obama. I mean we already know he can't spell respect, and that was a BLACK song, so here goes. COBS! Yep, dey it is! Stands for Crazy Old Bastard Society. I come up with that because my daddy used to tell me that most police and all Yankees act like they had a cob stuck up their butts. And if that sheriff down in Bryan didn't have a cob up his but I'm not a white boy from Austin. Swat them bees!

I'll be the first president, of course, because I'm the craziest old bastard in Texas. Now there's not a shortage of opinionated old pricks down here, so we won't have any problem coming up with a congress. We won't be sending out any summons, though. When someone gets crossways with us we'll just put raw shrimp in their hub caps, or something like that. We'll champion Open Carry; the right to drink a beer while driving around the lake on Sunday, and open marriage, the right to marry any girl of age for a trial period before solidifying the deal. That depends of course being ABLE to close the deal, which at our age is not written in stone.

So, COBS will replace the Republic of Texas. All sixty of those gentlemen harassed in Bryan are hereby charter members. I have to come up with a flag that won't offend anyone. We will have to come up with a constitution, but that'll be easy. We'll just use the US one, they're not doing anything with it at the time. Let me run this by a few people and see how far it gets.

Playing Doctor

Well, I was blessed by a visit from the CPS this week. That's where I've been, by the way, for all those  of you with inquiring minds who thought I had died. That was Spock that died, I'm fine. Anyway, one of the twins took a swing at the other twin and the school went into full NSA overdrive. Rather than taking the five year old to the clinic the teacher secreted the kid in some remote portion of the school house and called the CPS. We were hit at two-thirty in the morning, I Crappith thee NOT!

"Ding Dong," the doorbell went and since we never answer the door at that time of the morning, I simply waited until the patrol car pulled away and called the police station whereupon I was informed that the caller was a "well check" requested by the CPS. (This is my surprised face!) Naturally, the whole house was up by that time, and having had many precious encounters with the department before, the kids were riled up pretty good.

Now, for the novice out there let me explain how this works. First off public schools are revolving doors for CPS "product." Teachers pick a child they want, wait for a scratch, or bruise, and call the ever vigilant hot line to place their order, I mean report an injury. There is no such thing as a common sense factor in this. If said child bumped his butt on the school slide and got a bruise, full investigation up to and including drug testing of parents, and questions about pedophilia. In this case I was alone at the house the next evening when they showed up. Kinda like I planned this, huh? Actually I had an evil scheme . You see, the last time we went through this they sent this hot little blonde out ALONE, so, you see? Well, this time let's just say it was NOT a hot little blonde, and she brought Evander Holyfield with her! Curses! Foiled again!

I was polite and broke all my own rules letting the man and woman right in. I can say they were honest about the issue. Slight bruise on a twin's chin, and the other twin had confessed. You'd think the whole thing would end right there. Au Contraire. Five kids, five WHITE kids with blue eyes, all eight and under, that's a lot of money on the table there. We had to take pictures, LOTS of pictures. Fortunately everything was in order. I was expecting a young lady so the house was perfect.

I'll never get used to how untrained CPS workers are. They show up at a house, after dark, to possibly take children away from the family, get invited in by an old man who looks like Brigham Young, and just sit down like they've got good sense. For those of you who follow my tweets you know this was the night I was treating a sore throat with Jim Beam, and, of course I'm Packing. God bless the second amendment! So, for those of you who don't like people defending themselves I will let you know that we all had a nice chat, shook hands, and the two workers left without any holes in them.

Oh, I'm sorry, the investigation? As I write this the assailed twin is at the clinic. Seems the "bruise" was a shadow caused by the mumps. Yeah, remember those? When the teacher by passed the REGISTERED NURSE in the clinic this entire comedy of errors commenced from a case of mumps! Oh, it'll drag out. Like I said, that's a lot of money on the table. Speaking of money let's see what this cluster screw cost YOU Mr. and Mrs. Taxpayer. Hmmmm, fully staffed, twenty-four seven call center in Austin, at Austin rates, one investigator, one guy with the investigator, car, gas, cell phone, police officer, secretary and appropriate staff down at the office to type all this up. The full physicals and psyche evals of five children you didn't pay for, WE paid for that, because when we get into one of these things we like to use LICENSED doctors NOT on the take from the CPS. Oh, and we footed the bill for the health department coming out and giving the house a clean bill of health, and the thirty five dollars for the fire department to tap all the fire extinguishers with that little rubber hammer they have. All because some school ma'arm decided to stop teaching reading, writing, and rithmatic, and chose to play Doctor! Hey, maybe I can get that teacher to come out, I mean, she likes to play doctor so much.

De Facto

We are fast approaching armed revolution in Texas. That should set off whistles and bells down at the NSA. When a group of orderly citizens can’t meet at a VFW and discuss the Republic of Texas without a raid  smacking of Elliott Ness we have a major problem! You know what offended me the most? I can almost look past the DPS and Sheriff. I can give a tip of the hat to the Texas Rangers, but by GOD, when the Yankee, Norte, left wing, homosexual, communist FBI gets involved, that’s just too MUCH! WhatEVER was going on in that building that day it was Texas business! I don't know how to describe my emotion on this, but I think, “Turd in a swimming pool,” just about covers it!

Ron Paul has used my sacred mantra, “De Facto Republic,” now, so I’ve been validated. Just like when I started trying to put CPS workers on death row, and everybody said I was crazy, my De Facto Republic is now. . . well, DE FACTO! What the Keystone Cops raided was a fully operational government. In fact, it was the only legal government left in Texas, if not the United States. And yeah, yeah, yeah, they issued a summons to some crackpot judge and a guy down at the bank. It strikes me as odd that the same federal bozos who spit hairs over Sharia Law, which has absolutely NOTHING to do with AMERICA, can leap like savage rabbits on a bunch of Texans trying to enforce a Texas Constitution, written by Texans, for Texans. I’m just a Simple Ol’ Boy From Austin, but did I miss something here?

“But Wilbur, they had no legal right to issue those summons.” Ok, so they’re a bunch of crazy old men getting drunk at the VFW. Did that justify the raid? If I had been the judge I would have just went there and argued law with them, and if I lost I’d just say, “Ok, now enforce it!” This idiot can’t argue down a bunch of guys in a VFW and he’s a JUDGE? Give me a BREAK! But this FBI thing really irritates me. I’ve seen all the TV shows about them, and Bonnie and Clyde, and Al Capone, and, and and. I really like when they put some guy in prison forEVER until they find some pubic hair in a coffin and figure out the man was in London playing cards at the time of the rape. And they wave that around like it’s such a wonderful thing. How’s that Kennedy assassination working out for you, huh? The greatest cop shop on the planet can’t figure out a Mafia hit. Or the9/11 thing. Floors blowing out, one, two, three, and they’re STILL pointing to some sick rag head hiding in a cave. By the way, Michael Bee owes me money for medical, because it broke my jaw to admit that. And building seven going down.  The first building to collapse from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder! Oh My Living GOD! I just loved that Brit Chick announcing the collapse of building seven while it was STILL standing over her left shoulder.

But, they sho’ can mess up a beer party! If you will note they didn’t raid the Hell’s Angels’ last meeting.  Must’ve been something in the air. Like LEAD! Look, what we have here is the government actually denying citizens the right to peacefully assemble and exercise freedom of speech. Oh, yeah, it was an exclusive, secret meeting of a hidden society. . . kinda like the Masons or Mormons, right? They also steer clear of Mosques. God, I could go on and on, but I’m getting redundant here. Back to my original premise, the day is coming when the “Law Enforcement” is going to go crashing into some meeting and the tables will turn FAST. Ain’t no fun when the rabbit’s got the gun! And, yeah, it’ll get messy, and yeah, the lamebrain media will jump on it and call everyone a pedophile, and yeah they will lose in court. . . that time! But how about all the other times? It’s coming people, it’s coming. Remember that phrase. . De Facto!

Freedom Friday, A Spiral To The Stars

Freedom Friday was a unique event. The original concept of 5,000 people over a period of three days was ambitious.  It's hard to get people to show up for an event, but if you look at the facts, and communication, the numbers look a lot better. First off, Freedom Friday was a media event, broadcast and recorded for distribution all over the world. With the amount of pictures and group activity the event will grow even after the last day. With the numbers of tourists filing in and out of the Capitol the number of ears affected was well over the 5,000, and they ALL stopped and looked.

We brought the movement(s) out from behind the keyboard, and into the light, and that's what's important. From the invocation at the beginning to Chip Darby's amazing comparison of the Bible and the Qu'ran, the information streaming from the steps was informative, provocative and yes, entertaining. When the Muslims had their little fifteen minutes of fame a couple weeks ago more of THEIR people showed up, but when they left that was IT! Think of it this way; Your average Japanese tourist sees a bunch of Muslims ranting and raving, and doing that tongue waging thing, and they think, "Ugh! More terrorists!" They see Doc Greene, C J Grisham, and Texas flags being waved and THAT'S what they came to Austin for. . . COWBOYS! What do you think they're going to take back to Tokyo with them, Allah Akbar or Yippee Ki Yi Yay?

The networking was fantastic. People interacted, putting faces to names, information was exchanged, goals clarified, and plans laid. The ideas put forth, and recorded by the news media will continue to spread out in the upcoming weeks. To the Muslims numbers were important, but when the bell sounded their event died right there. No one converted to Islam on the Capitol steps that day. When Freedom Friday was finished Freedom Texas was launched. Always remember, there were less than two hundred at the Alamo. There weren't really that many Texican troops at San Jacinto but Santa Anna had a bad hair day. Also, I'd like to point out that the fight for Texas Liberty beginning at Freedom Friday was almost precisely the same day the men entered the Alamo.

The very fact that we WERE there was what counts! We DID stand up. We DID speak out, and believe it or not, we WERE heard! For myself, Freedom Friday invigorated me. It focused my thoughts. I'm not good in person. I'll be frank, I come off as low keyed, and non confrontational. Well, except for that one idiot I met from Rhode Island who reminded me of all the things I detest about Nortés. I cleaned him up pretty good. But, by and large in a public venue I am a listener, and you don't have to give me much seed to get a mighty oak. I'm not pulling back, not by a damn sight! The only thing I'll do different is SIT the next time I speak so the Texas wind can't use my London Fog as a sail. Just think of it like this; Freedom Friday was a launch of an idea, and the ideas put forth that day are a spiral to the stars!
