Life and Death (Ebola)

I hate to beat a dead horse, much less a dead Liberian, but this is serious, people. Duncan is dead, dead, dead, and of course, his family and girlfriend are screaming to the press that he didn’t get the same care as the doctors who came over for treatment of Ebola. Yada, yada, yada. I get so tired of hearing that. He came into the country KNOWING he was at death’s door and lo and behold, he died JUST like he would have back in the old country, only THIS way he gives Texas a little gift. The first present opened was a deputy who stepped into the apartment to deliver the quarantine order and BAM! He’s in the ER with “flu-like” symtoms. Wait, didn’t El Supremo, president for life, Obama, just tell us this stuff isn’t THAT contagious? Surely he didn’t catch it in the AIR now did he? The news footage was bad. Poor guy in his shorts with gloves and the personel around him looking like they’re about to take a walk on the MOON! Guess they didn’t buy Obama’s medical opinion either. Like I said before, we may be “po-dunk” down here in Texas, but we’re not THAT “Po-dunk!”

So it begins. The deputy is the first totally innocent person to contract this stuff, if indeed he has it. All the others, doctors, and Duncan himself, went willingly into the Ebola areas and got it there. The deputy was just serving a warrant, probably NOT touching any surfaces or kissing any of the girls and now he’s sick. And just WAIT until one of our Mexican invitees get this virus. Oh my LIVING GOD! It will run up and down Interstate 35 like like a funeral procession for a dead sniper. Texas lives and feeds off of I-35. You can cut the heart out of the heart of Texas very quickly with something like this. Three years ago I was working in Austin when a simple flu nearly shut down Sears Holdings. Can you imagine Ebola?

I do have faith in Texas. NOT in the rest of the US, but Texas, yes. And this family is running around being turned out of cafes, denied employment, generally shunned, and that’s good. Texas got it RIGHT! My prayers and heart goes out to the poor deputy. In all honesty he probably bought into the nonsense about how to contract the virus, followed protocol, and turned up sick anyway.  I hope it is just a simple flu, or allergies, but I will tell you it is a big ol’ nasty head’s up! Those paramedics weren’t taking any chances. This is NOT a crap table, this is LIFE (and death.)
