Have you ever wondered why the American Revolution worked, and countless Mexican revolutions did not? The answer is simple if you step back a bit and just look at it. The colonies that formed what would later become the United States were far removed from England, both geographically and philosophically. While the Brits were sipping tea the colonies were fending off Indians and trying to form unions to create commerce in a distant land very different from London . This process started from the moment the pilgrims set foot on Plymouth rock. Don't forget the reason the pilgrims were there in the first place was they couldn't stand England. You have to be some kind of irritated to jump in a row boat and charge off across the North Atlantic just to get away from a situation.
So, this bunch of preachers started something and that something grew over about a hundred and fifty years, but even though the settlers had LEFT England, the King still laid claim to the New World. That right there is a tickler point all by itself. Telescope forward another century or so and notice the Mormons under Brigham Young ran off to Salt Lake to just be able to build a temple and be left alone and ran smack dab into manifest destiny. This is the problem with starting something new. If it fails you won't get a birthday card, but if it works someone always comes along and lays claim. Same thing in the music business. If your stuff isn't working you can't sing above the level of conversation in a bar, but get a hit? EVERYONE in that bar will swear to GOD they were in the room when you wrote it!
A true revolution is not a revolution at all, but a preservation. When a bunch of people take on a situation, figure it out, and then someone comes along and tries to take it, you have what's called a problem. The Declaration of Independence wasn't so much a statement of this is the way it WILL be, as this is the way it IS! See, that is why Mexican revolutions don't work. They aren't trying to preserve anything, but always following some lead dog with HIS ideas.
Texas is a lot like that. Texas is set up not so much as a state as it was in independent nation. The thirteen colonies were little bits of land here and there, some grew tobacco, some grew corn, but any one if them didn't have to resources to function autonomously. I know this hurts a few feelings up in New York, but that's just the way it is. Speaking of New York, all it's really ever been good for is sucking goods and money from other areas and pretending to be great managers. Texas has resources. We didn't mind being a state, but Texas was a state in name only. As long as we could go along and run our business things were cool. America's like this...STUPID! Swat them bees, swat them bees! America has always been stupid. It subscribed to the one size fits all government early on. Well, one size doesn't fit all. Lincoln wanted to " Preserve the Union," Well, how about them Mormons out there who told the "Union" to pack it a long time ago?
Texas should have quit the deal two minutes after the first shot was fired at Fort Sumter. We had to put up with the Civil War, and Lincoln got his "Union." For the next hundred years the Nortés cracked the whip while they ate Texas beef, used Texas gas, and stole Texas land. Texas had to submit to every cockamamie idea that spun out of Washington DC, and what made sense in New York made absolutely no sense in Austin. When the Texas Nationalist movement came along it was not so much to start something new, as to preserve something that was already there, and had been for a very long time.
Obama wasn't so much the author of the America we see today as the product OF. All thus conjecture about his place of birth is all very fine, but I just look at where he grew up. ILLINOIS! Same as Lincoln. A screw up is a screw up is a screw up. The only good idea America ever had was free enterprise and they screwed that up. Their money isn't even money any more. It's hot checks from some private bank run by New Yorkers. We hang horse thieves in Texas by the way.
Texas is independent. It's as simple as that. Look at it thus way. If America were to collapse tomorrow what would happen. Well, will be riots in New York. Without Big Daddy to feed them the have nots up there will spill into the streets and loot everything in sight. Detroit, GONE. Chicago, GONE. Don't give me any of your statistics and Yankee back talk you know it's true. As you approach the Midwest you'll find people who can feed themselves. The Amish can, and the Mormons darn sure can. When you get out to California...weeeeell, we shall see.
Then, you'll have TEXAS! We won't miss a single ribeye or day at the beach! A few adjustments will have to be made, but we got that. Right off the bat there won't be an income tax. Won't have any drug cartels either 'cause we'll HANG em! Immigration? No problem. Just cross the border of a sovereign nation that LIKES to shoot people. OPEC? Don't need it. We got gas. ISIS? Did I mention we hang people down here? Just saying. Constitution? We'll just use yours. You don't seem to be doing anything with it right now. Gay marriage? We have churches for that. Join one!
About the only problem Texas will have is arguing about how much foreign aid to send the Nortés, which, in my opinion, should be NONE! Let 'em print up some more of that Monopoly money they're so proud of. Texas will join the world community right around the fourteenth largest economy in the world, and pick up where it left off in 1845.
